A journalist was killed when a car carrying former Prime Minister Imran Khan crashed in eastern Pakistan on Sunday as he led a convoy of supporters, party officials and journalists said, Reuters reported.
The incident forced Khan to call off the “long march” he had led to Islamabad to pressure the federal government to hold early elections.
His convoy left the eastern city of Lahore and is expected to reach Islamabad on Friday.
“Shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific accident that claimed the life of Channel 5 reporter Sadaf Naeem during our march today,” Khan tweeted.

Khan said Sunday’s events planned by his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party had been cancelled.
Journalist Kazzafi Butt, who witnessed the incident, told Reuters that 40-year-old Naeem lost his balance while trying to get into Khan’s truck.
According to him, a truck wheel ran over his head when he fell to the road. PTI leader Mussarat Jamshed Cheema confirmed that Naeem was hit by Khan’s car. Local police officials did not respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
