Rapid vs CFR Cluj, the derby of the 16th stage of the Romanian Championship, is scheduled for Sunday, October 30 at 21:00 at Giulesti Stadium and will be broadcast live on Digi Sport 1, Prima Sport 1 and Orange Sport 1.
The biggest match of the first leg of the regular season will take place at the new stadium in Julesti, where 2nd-placed Rapid will play CFR Cluj, third-ranked and champions of Romania for the last five seasons.
Rapid are coming off a poor run with just one win in their last four league matches, but the last game, a 1-1 draw at home to Farul Constanta, was a game in which the Giulesti players played superbly, with countless opportunities to score.
Adrian Mutu’s team lacks attacking brilliance, scoring just 17 goals in 15 matches (Antonio Sefer is top scorer with five), but has the best defense in the Super League, conceding just 10 goals.
“If we repeat what we did in the match against Farul Constanta, when we had positive aggression and dedication from the first to the last minute, I think we will manage to win three points.
CFR Cluj won the championship for years thanks to the group, thanks to the style of play. We have a very difficult match ahead of us, but we will enter the field with the intention of winning,” said Dragos Grigore, one of the “veterans” of the group under the Grant Bridge.
CFR Cluj come to Giulesti after three tight matches, all away, local derbies with rivals U Cluj in the Romanian Cup (1-1) and Superliga (2-1), as well as a 0-3 European derby against Sivasspor in the Conference League.
“There are a lot of coincidences. Not that I’m complaining, it’s bad that I was complaining, but I think we have the most matches in Europe.
We can’t play with the same team, we have to make changes and I hope we will be inspired. My goals were and always are to win the championship and qualify in the groups.
And now I’m on target, we’re fighting for the championship, and in Europe we’re in groups and even have a chance to go to the European spring,” said Dan Petrescu, coach of the Transylvanian team.
CFR Cluj have 28 points, one behind Rapid and six behind Farul Konstanz, but still have two games to play, both away to Hermannstadt and FCSB.
In the round-robin match, CFR Cluj won 1-0 against Rapid thanks to a Juri Matias goal, but Giulesti missed a penalty in extra time through Alexandra Alba.
Superbet offers a coefficient of 1.42 on the 1X prediction: home win or draw in the match Rapid – CFR Cluj.
