The protesters held banners with slogans against the Iranian government, and chanted “death to the dictator” in Persian, “woman, life, freedom” in Greek, and “we want freedom” in English.

Ms. Matani emphasized that these demonstrations will take place every Saturday, as there are dead people every day, and in this way they want to honor their memory.

He added that as part of today’s gathering, videos were shown showing a series of acts of violence by the Tehran regime against youth. “We want everyone to see what is happening in Iran, there are images,” he stressed.

It was a touching moment when a crowd of protesters formed a circle in the middle of the square and all together sang a piece written by a young Iranian using insurgent tweets as lyrics.
