Russia is ready to deliver up to 500,000 tons of grain to the poorest countries in the next four months with the help of Turkey, Russian Agriculture Minister Dmytro Patrushev said on Saturday, citing the official TASS news agency, Reuters reports. The statement was made after Moscow suspended participation in the agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain.

Russia said on Friday that only 3% of food exports made under a UN-brokered deal to release grain from blockaded Ukrainian ports reached the poorest countries, while Western countries accounted for half of all supplies, Agerpres reported.

Since Russia and Ukraine signed the “Black Sea Grain Initiative” in Turkey on July 22 with the support of the UN, several million tons of corn, wheat, sunflower products, barley, rapeseed and soybeans have been exported from Ukraine.

Russia said Ukrainian forces used drones to attack Black Sea Fleet ships in Sevastopol, the largest city in Russia-annexed Crimea, early Saturday.

“Given… the terrorist act of the Kyiv regime with the participation of British experts against ships of the Black Sea Fleet and civilian vessels involved in ensuring the security of the “grain corridor”, the Russian side suspends participation in the implementation of agreements on the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports,” the message says. .

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine on Saturday accused Moscow of using a “false pretext” to suspend participation in the Black Sea Grain Corridor.

“We call on all states to demand that Russia stop its hunger games and re-commit,” Dmytro Kuleba wrote on Twitter.
