In the video released by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one can see how a sniper of the “Alpha” special forces at an observation post destroys 4 Russian soldiers one by one.
Ukrainian special forces do not say where the nighttime operations took place, but Alpha special forces took part in a counteroffensive in the northeast of the country that led to the catastrophic collapse of the Russian front in Kharkiv last month.

Alpha troops are also believed to have been involved in fighting around Gostomel airport in the early days of the invasion launched by Vladimir Putin on February 24, with Ukrainian sources saying they ambushed and killed a group of Chechen militants.
During these battles, the Ukrainians managed to eliminate Magomed Tushaev, the “right-hand man” of the leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov. Tushaev became the first Russian general killed during a “special operation”.
Tushaev was the commander of the 141st Motorized Rifle Guards Chechen Regiment of Russia.
What is special forces “Alpha”.
Founded in 1974 by the former head of the KGB, Yuri Andropov, who later became the leader of the Soviet Union, the Alpha group was one of the elite units of the Soviet special forces, its units were created in all the pre-USSR states.
After the collapse of the Soviet empire, troops were maintained by many countries that gained independence, including Ukraine, which transferred them to the SBU, its national security service.
However, the “Alfa” units were not without controversy in Ukraine, as they were accused of shooting at protesters during the Euromaidan in 2014. This group was later purged and reorganized by the new pro-Western authorities in Kyiv.
Oleksandr Khodakovsky, one of the most prominent separatist commanders in Donbas during the Russian-backed insurgency eight years ago, was the commander of Alpha forces in the Donetsk region before he and several of his officers defected to Russia.
He commanded the separatist battalion “Vostok” in Donetsk until 2018, when he moved to Russia, then stated that Russian border guards no longer allowed him to return to the region in eastern Ukraine.
