In a phone call with French Defense Minister Sébastien Lecornu, announced by the Russian side, Shoigu said Moscow was concerned that Ukraine could use a “dirty bomb” in the conflict, without providing evidence to support the suggestion that Ukraine could use such a weapon. .
“They discussed the situation in Ukraine, which is rapidly deteriorating,” the text of the conversation reads in the Ministry of Defense.
“This leads to further uncontrolled escalation,” the quoted source added.
A so-called dirty bomb (radiological weapon) uses conventional explosives mixed with radioactive material.
The Ministry of Defense in Moscow did not provide additional information on its statement, Reuters also noted.
