The G7 of the world’s most industrialized countries condemn the “kidnapping” of management and personnel at the nuclear power plant in Zaporozhye, Ukraine, by the Russian armed forces and demand the return of full control of the power plant in Kyiv.
“We condemn the repeated kidnappings of plant managers and employees,” the CEOs of the G7 nonproliferation body said in a press release released today.
“We call on Russia to immediately return full control” of this plant to “its rightful and sovereign owner,” which is Ukraine,” the text reads.
Russian military forces seized the plant – the largest in Europe – in the early days of the invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24.
