US President Joe Biden on Saturday congratulated the new head of the Italian government, Giorgia Maloni, noting that he “can’t wait” to continue working together for the benefit of Ukraine, AFP and Agerpres reported with reference to the statement of the White House.

“As the leader of the G7, I look forward to continuing our support for Ukraine, holding Russia accountable for its aggression, ensuring respect for human rights and democratic values, and building sustainable economic growth,” Biden said in a statement released after the swearing-in. “Italy is a vital NATO ally,” the American president also reminded.
