Alexis Tsipras: The country is going through an unprecedented and multifaceted crisis

Key questions asked to be answered SYRIZA– PS on the road to elections as the country faces an unprecedented crisis, in a wider international environment of instability and risk, Alexis Tsiprasin his speech to the Party Central Committee.

The meeting began with a minute of silence in memory of Alexandros Nikolaidis. Starting his speech, Mr. Tsipras noted that “we are called upon to make important decisions about the actions of the party in the face of very big challenges”, and explained: “Our country is going through an unprecedented and multifaceted crisis. Economic, social, medical, moral. And that is why the decisive intervention and activity of our party in the coming months is extremely important.”

He then raised questions that the party would have to answer: “Where is Greece heading? Where do we need and want him to go in a world of uncertainty and danger? How will we build a mound on a crisis of security, democracy and justice? How can we save ourselves from the current vicious regime that undermines the rule of law, democracy and works intensively for the profit of a petty and state-sustaining oligarchy?”

In a broader context, Mr. Tsipras noted that the end of history promised by neo-liberalism has turned into the beginning of a new cycle of geostrategic instability, wars, blood and refugees: “Economic and social inequalities are increasing sharply, instead of decreasing. The far right, even in its gray neo-fascist and neo-Nazi version, feeds on the depth, cynicism and scope of provocative injustice in Europe and beyond. The greed and lack of empathy of the few and the political caste that represents them breeds the despair of the many. And that’s a dangerous development.”
