For the negative consequences that a new Turkish-Libyan memorandum security and stability in the Mediterranean yesterday informed his colleagues at the European Affairs Council, which met in Luxembourg, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias. Mr. Dendias carefully analyzed why this new attempt by the Turks to sign mining agreements with a government like the Tripoli government, which years ago lost the ability to make decisions, much more like one that is completely out of its responsibilities, it could have significant side effects.
Mr. Dendias, as expected, cited the demarcation of maritime boundaries and the EEZ between Israel and Lebanon as an example of how to resolve disputes.
Yesterday, the foreign ministers discussed, logically, the situation in Ukraine and ways in which the EU countries can continue to support the Ukrainian armed forces in their defense work. Tomorrow, Mr. Dendias will inform the representatives of the parliamentary parties about all the latest developments in Greek-Turkish (and not only).
After the briefing by the parties, unexpectedly, as the security situation in Ukraine is constantly changing, Mr. Dendias will visit Kyiv, which has been planned for several months. This development is a continuation of the latest practical steps to promote the circular exchange of armored personnel carriers and battle tanks, the German Marder, with the Greek Army BMP-1.
Finally, it is worth noting that since the meeting held a few days ago by the Ministers of National Defense, Nikos Panagiotopoulos and Hulusi Akar, the only substantive discussion that is taking place at the diplomatic level between the two sides is communication in NATO, through the infamous disengagement mechanism that was created in 2020 during the Oruch Reis crisis.
