However, it has been criticized for not providing enough support to British households and has been fined for breaching restrictions during the coronavirus lockdown.

The revelations about his wealthy non-resident wife’s tax status and the fine he received along with Johnson for violating the COVID quarantine rules have damaged his image.

New premiere until October 28

A vote to find a successor within the Conservative Party will take place “next week”, added the prime minister, who is the shortest-serving prime minister in modern British history, having been in office for just 44 days.

The chairman of the 1922 committee responsible for organizing the Conservative Party, Graham Brady, then specified that the next prime minister would be appointed by 28 October, with a maximum of two candidates running, in a much shorter process than during an election. which brought Liz Truss to Downing Street this summer.

“We are well aware of the need, in the national interest, to resolve (this crisis) quickly and clearly,” he said.
