The partial mobilization of hundreds of thousands of reservists to be sent to fight in Ukraine has not been completed “yet”, although several regions have already completed the process, the Kremlin said on Tuesday.

“There is still no presidential decree” to stop mobilization, Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov said, AFP and Agerpres reported.

His statement came a day after Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced the closure of military mobilization centers in the Russian capital, which had been operating for almost a month.

The Russian capital, as the mayor of Moscow noted, fulfilled its quota of recruits who will be sent to fight in Ukraine, after the announcement of partial mobilization by President Vladimir Putin on September 21.

The announcement caused great concern and led to tens of thousands of Russians fleeing the country to avoid conscription.

Last week, Vladimir Putin said he expected this wave of mobilization to end “within two weeks”, admitting there had been slip-ups.

On Tuesday, Peskov said that several regions had completed the mobilization process, but did not specify which ones.

“The Ministry of Defense has established quotas for each region. Some say that this process has been completed,” the Kremlin spokesman said at a press conference, assuring that the Russian authorities will not mobilize more than the stated number of 300,000 reservists.
