Don’t count, we’ve done it for you: the Porsche 911 lineup matters now 25 different models. Options for power, sportiness, four-wheel drive or not, open or not, and then the famous Turbo and GT3… And so a little news, 911 Carrera T. A model that returns from the previous generation of the most famous sports car, and which aims to fill another niche of Stuttgart’s potential customers: fans of sporty minimalism.

Porsche 911 Carrera T: less weight, no more horsepower

Indeed, the Porsche 911 Carrera T, which returned with the previous generation (991.2), aims to simplicity above all else. On the menu: the “six” basic Carrera (385 hp), a manual transmission, a self-locking differential with torque distribution and a Carrera S sports chassis… But without rear seats. Are you still a little lost? Obviously: the least powerful engine in the lineup, but some chassis advantages and less weight. A dual-clutch transmission may return as an option, but be aware that the manual is no longer available on the Carrera sales floor. If you want to play in heels, you’ll have to go through the Carrera T… Or step up to the much more expensive models.

The 911 Carrera T weighs 1,470 kg 35 kg lighter than the entry-level Carrera. If part of this mod is probably due to the manual gearbox, the other is due to the missing rear seats, reduced sound insulation, a lighter battery and thinner glass. In short, the Carrera T is a little more radical than the Carrera, but remains a far cry from track racers like the GT3 and GT3 RS.

911 for purists!

Thus, a slightly special menu that may appeal to a certain category of “porschists”: the purists. For them, less weight, a manual transmission and not too much horsepower is not much back to basics. But how much will they have to pay? The letter “T” is borrowed from the Carrera and Carrera S, but brings its own touch. It sits logically between these two “entry-level” 911 models. At €126,330 before options and fines, the Carrera T is around €10,000 more expensive than the base 911 and €5,000 cheaper than the Carrera S. Malus will hurt because , like all 911s, the Carrera T receives a maximum fine of €40,000.
