Mitsotakis of Karditsa: There is no forgotten corner of Greece for the government of Northern Northern Greece

The Prime Minister stressed that for the New Democracy government there is no forgotten corner of Greece and no two-speed citizens. Kyriakos Mitsotakistoday during his visit to the Karditsa regional office, where, among other things, he visited a construction site where work is underway to restore damage caused to the road network by the Mediterranean cyclone Janos.

Mr. Mitsotakis was informed by the authorities about the progress of the projects that are being implemented in 14 points of the road network of the municipalities of Karditsa, Argithea and Mouzaki.

“There is no forgotten corner of Greece for our government. On the contrary, our attention should be directed primarily to those areas that in the past did not enjoy the due attention of the central government due to their remoteness from the main centers of decision-making. We have come to fix this forever, so that all citizens of Greece, whether they live in major urban centers or in the most isolated village of Greek territory, feel that there are no two-tier citizens and that everyone has the same rights, the same development opportunities, those the possibility of protection from the welfare state,” emphasized Kyriakos Mitsotakis from the town hall of Argithea, where he then met with the mayor Andreas Stergiou.

“I have been given the opportunity today to visit the mountainous Argithea, to tell, on the one hand, about the important work that we have done, to restore the catastrophic damage left by Janos, but, above all, to talk about the future.” said the Prime Minister, adding: “For the future of this blessed place, for great development dynamics, for the protection of the environment, which is also your great wealth, here in Agrafa, in the most isolated municipality of our homeland. Then we will have the opportunity to present a new development tool that brings together three municipalities of a wider region with significant financial resources, so that we can imagine not only today, but also the next day of this region, when there will be more people in our mountains that everyone should know mountain lovers.

Construction of 4 bridges

It should be noted that in addition to the construction of roads, the plans of the projects include the construction of four bridges for the safe crossing of the Pamysos River and two streams.

The restoration, the Prime Minister was informed, was completed in large part due to the rapid registration of damage and the completion of studies for the necessary technical interventions. Parts of the project, for which a budget of 134.4 million euros was allocated, have already been handed over to vehicles, such as the Muzaki ring road and parts of the Karditsa municipality road network.

For his part, Mayor Argytheas said: “It is a great honor and joy for us that, for the first time in history, an Acting Prime Minister arrives at the seat of the municipality in Antiros. This is what worries us. After all, you, too, have become the recipient of the love of the permanent population. For us, this is a very big story, a very important moment, we say it and mean it. It is true that good things have happened in Argythea over the last three years, and in the next period of time, with your help and catalytic help, even more will be done.”

At the center of the debate at the City Hall was the government’s strategy to promote mountain regions and support small mountain municipalities, which was reviewed during a meeting between the prime minister and 33 mayors of the Network of Mountain Municipalities in early May.

During his visit to the Mayor’s Office of the Mountain Municipality of Kyriakos, Mitsotakis also talked to municipal employees, whom he thanked for the support they provide to citizens through programs such as Home Help.

Earlier, the Prime Minister walked around the village of Antiro, where he talked to the residents, and also had the opportunity to visit the local primary school and kindergarten, where he greeted the students and their teachers and discussed the needs of the school with them.

The Prime Minister’s next stop after the mayor’s office was the Holy Monastery of Genesiou of the Most Holy Theotokos Katusiou, where he was greeted by Metropolitan Timothy of Karditsa, and together with the representatives of the monastery, he was given a tour of this place. Kyriakos Mitsotakis had the opportunity to see the exceptionally well-preserved hagiographies and learn about the history of the monastery, which dates back to the 17th century.
