Bianca Andreescu reached the 1/8 finals of the WTA 1000 tournament in Guadalajara (Mexico), the athlete from Canada beat Petra Kvitova (3-6, 6-2, 6-0) in a tough fight.

Kvitova (the 16th seed) won the first set 6-3 and appeared to have the match in hand. However, Andreescu managed to recover: she was more inspired, more aggressive, made fewer mistakes and managed to take advantage of the uncertainty that arose in the opponent’s game.

Bianca lost just two more games before the end of the match (6-2, 6-0), and qualification took place after a match that lasted two hours and 12 minutes.

For a place in the quarters, Bianca Andreescu will have to fight against the winner of the match, Jessica Pegula (3rd favorite) and Olena Rybakina (Wimbledon champion).

The Guadalajara Open Akron 2022 is a WTA 1000 event with a total prize pool of $2,527,250 and a starting main draw of 64 players. The competition takes place from October 17 to 23. The main favorites of the competition in Mexico are Paula Badosa (1), Arina Sabalenko (2), Jessica Pegula (3) and Maria Sakkari (4).
