The Parliament of Estonia on Tuesday condemned Moscow’s annexation of Ukrainian territories and described Russia as a “terrorist regime”, AFP and Agerpres reported.

The declaration was adopted by 88 deputies of the unicameral parliament of Estonia, which has 101 parliamentarians. During the voting, 10 deputies were absent, three abstained.

The Parliament of Estonia “declares Russia a terrorist regime and the Russian Federation a country that supports terrorism,” the statement reads.

“The regime of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, with its threats of nuclear attack, has made Russia the greatest danger to peace in Europe and the whole world,” the statement said.

This position is a response to the repeated calls of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

The parliament of another Baltic state, Latvia, in August declared Russia a “state sponsor of terrorism,” accusing Moscow of “targeted genocide against the Ukrainian people.”

But last month, US President Joe Biden’s administration announced it would not use those terms, saying they were “not the most effective and reliable way forward.”
