Russia’s State Duma has suspended the broadcast of plenary sessions indefinitely to protect information from “our enemy,” a Russian lawmaker said Tuesday, as the lower house of parliament discussed issues related to the war in Ukraine, News.ro reported, citing Reuters.
“Those issues that require a delicate discussion in a narrow professional circle should not be the property of our enemy,” said the head of the ruling United Russia party Volodymyr Vasiliev on the air of the Zvezda military TV channel.
Yes, Tuesday’s plenary meeting was not broadcast either on the website of the Duma or on social networks. Deputies analyzed the report of Deputy Prime Minister Marat Husnullin on the transfer of civilians to Russia from the Russian-occupied Kherson region of Ukraine, where Ukrainian troops are conducting a counteroffensive.
Google also blocked the YouTube account of the Russian Federation Council, which was subscribed to by about 200,000 people and contained about 20,000 videos, Interfax reports.
Roskomnadzor, Russia’s telecommunications agency, asked Google to restore the accounts immediately.
