
A Russian military plane crashed in the south of the Krasnodar Territory, Russian state media reported, citing the BBC. Several apartments are on fire, reports News.ro.
The Su-34 fighter jet crashed near a residential building in the city of Yesk.
“At the moment, two people have died, 15 have been hospitalized,” the local office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia reported, citing TASS, Interfax, Ria Novosti, and AFP.
Footage appeared on social networks showing an explosion and smoke rising from the accident site.
The cause of the plane crash was an engine fire during takeoff, the Ministry of Defense of Russia reported.
The pilots got out of the plane before it crashed near a residential building in Yesk, on the shores of the Sea of Azov.
