Jeep unveiled the Avenger on Monday at the Paris Motor Show, the first and smallest of a series of four electric SUVs to be launched by 2025. Autonomy Avenger will be 400 km with the ability to reach 550 km in the city.

The Avenger will be produced at the Tychy plant in Poland, where the Fiat 500, Abarth 500 and Lancia Ypsilon are currently assembled. The situation will change, and the plant will produce crossovers from Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo, all brands of the Stellantis group.

The car will reach the first buyers in the spring of 2023

Annual production of the Avenger will be 100,000 units, and the Jeep brand hopes to sell 300,000 vehicles a year in Europe with the model, up from 130,000 now.

The engine power is 115 kW, and the battery has a capacity of 54 kWh. Interestingly, the version of the Avenger with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine will be sold in Italy and Spain, since in these countries there is still work to be done on the charging infrastructure for electric cars.

There will also be a hybrid version

Jeep wants to attract a younger clientele, especially women, with the Avenger, and the company says the car has off-road capabilities.

The Anglo-Saxon press calls this model “baby SUV” because its length is only 4 meters, that is, about the same as the Dacia Sandero. Jeep says it is the right size for the European market, adding that the B-Class SUV segment will continue to grow, with 2.2 million vehicles sold in Europe by 2023. Avenger will be positioned in the range under another Jeep model: Renegade.

The model is built on the platform used in other models of the group, such as Peugeot e-208, Opel Mokka and Citroen e-C4.

The company says Italy will be the biggest market for the model, followed by Germany, France and the UK.

Jeep’s goal is to sell only 100% electric models in Europe by 2030, while the U.S. share will be just 50% this year.
