In Sunday’s final, Blinkova won after an hour and 15 minutes of play against the Italian Paolini (78 WTA) with a score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.

After defeating Lesya Tsurenko (97 WTA) and Miriam Bjorklund (132 WTA) in the qualifiers, Anna also reached the final against Anastasia Zakharova (183 WTA), Xinya Wang (80 WTA), Angelina Kalinina (45 WTA, favorite 2) and Anastasia Potapova (48 WTA, favorite 4).

Thanks to the trip to Romania, Anna Blinkova recorded an impressive jump in the WTA ranking (58 positions). As of Monday, October 17, the Russian will occupy the 80th place.

The Transylvania Open was held from October 10 to 16 in Cluj-Napoca, was held on a hard indoor court (BT Arena) and was part of the WTA 250 category. The competition offered a total prize pool of $251,750 and the champion of the first edition (2021) was Anette Kontaveit .
