
Serbia’s national team, which includes four players from Romania, won gold medals at the Women’s Volleyball World Championship in Holland and Poland, defeating Brazil in the final (26-24, 25-22, 25-17) on Saturday in Apeldoorn (Netherlands).

Italian Daniele Santarelli’s team, which won all 12 matches, also included Sladjana Mirkovic, Bojana Milenkovic (both from CSM Volei Alba Blaj), Teodora Pusic (CS Rapid Bucharest) and Ana Bielica (CSM Tirgoviste). Other players such as Bianca Busa and Maja Aleksic also came through Division A1.
Captain Tijana Boskovic, MVP of the 2018 season, was the best player for the winners with 23 points.
The bronze medals were won by the 2018 world vice-champion and current European champion Italy, who defeated the current Olympic champion the USA team with a score of 3:0 (25-20, 25-25, 27-25).
Paola Egonu with 25 points again became the most productive player of the Peninsula team, reports Agerpres.
Italy has one World Cup title in its history, in 2002.
