The deputy editor-in-chief of the RT TV channel Nataliya Losyeva reported in her Telegram channel that on October 10, 28-year-old head of the department in the Moscow government, Oleksiy Martynov, died at the front in Ukraine.

According to a Russian journalist for the propaganda channel RT, Martynov was mobilized on September 23, two days after Russian President Vladimir Putin called up reservists in a desperate attempt to deal with a Ukrainian counteroffensive.

“Mobilized on September 23. In his youth, he served in the Semenivsky regiment (there you have to march). Zero combat experience. Literally in a day, he was sent to the front. He died heroically on October 10,” Losyeva wrote.

In the same message, the Russian journalist asked the military commanders to tell the truth, without specifying what exactly it was about.

“Warlords, now is not the time to lie. You can’t lie at all, and now it’s a crime,” Losyeva wrote.

Russia officially announced five dead among the recently mobilized

Chelyabinsk regional authorities on Thursday became the first Russian state authority to officially announce the killing of recruits recently mobilized to fight in Ukraine, Meduza reports.

The press service of Governor Oleksiy Teksler and the government headed by him announced the death “in the area of the special operation in Donbas” of five people mobilized in the Chelyabinsk region. All of the deaths were reported in Korkino, a town with a population of nearly 35,000, according to the latest 2018 census.

As noted by the Russian-language BBC service, this is the first official confirmation from the Russian authorities regarding the death of a part of mobilized recruits at the front after September 21, when Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a decree on partial mobilization in Russia.

But pro-war Russian military bloggers say the number of dead and wounded among troops mobilized under Vladimir Putin’s September 21 order is likely higher than the official figure due to a lack of training, equipment, unit cohesion and commanders, according to the latest ISW analysis.
