A fire broke out on Saturday evening at the headquarters of the Archdiocese of Tomis, the first information showing that the fire started in the attic, News.ro reports.

The Emergency Situations Inspectorate of Dobrudja reported that firefighters were required to intervene in the fire at the headquarters of the Archdiocese of Tomis. The fire started in the attic of the building.

To extinguish the fire, seven water and foam fire extinguishing units, three truck ladders, an evacuation brigade, a SMURD brigade, an ambulance of the State Emergency Service were involved, and more than 60 firefighters were involved in extinguishing the fire.

The attic has an area of ​​approximately 100 square meters.

At the time when the firefighters were informed about the fire, His Holiness Theodosius was performing the Akathist of the Resurrection of the Lord in the Bishop’s Cathedral. Not far from the place of the fire is the Archbishop’s Cathedral. The service was broadcast on the Facebook page of the Archdiocese of Tomis, but was interrupted at one point.

The Palace of the Archdiocese of Tomis was built almost 100 years ago. According to Dobrudja Heritage, the building was built in 1928-1932 according to the plans of the architect Ion D. Enescu.
