Further strengthening of Greek-British ties and Greek-British cooperation within the framework of international organizations were discussed during a meeting in London by Foreign Ministers Nikos Dendias and James Cleverley. “During a cordial first meeting with my British colleague J. Cleverley, we discussed further strengthening the Greek-British ties and coordination within international organizations, and also reviewed the implementation of the Memorandum on the Strategic Bilateral Framework signed last year,” Nikos Dendias wrote after meeting in a post on Twitter.

The head of the Foreign Ministry also noted that they exchanged views on energy security, climate change, the situation in Ukraine, as well as recent events in the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus, Libya and the Western Balkans.

Before the meeting, in a speech to reporters in London, Nikos Dendias stressed that the United Kingdom is an important country, a strategic and historical friend of Greece. He also emphasized that it was especially important for the Greek government that the United Kingdom should have a full understanding of the views of Greece.
