Anastasiades: Cyprus will not send weapons to Ukraine

Cyprus will not send weapons to Ukraine, said the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis.

In his statements, President Anastasiadis, in response to a question about the supply of weapons from Cyprus to Ukraine and a remark by a journalist that the parties say that this would be a disaster for the Republic of Cyprus, said that “I want to say one thing. Cyprus is semi-occupied, it needs protective armor, and therefore without protective armor we cannot survive. That’s why I want to calm down. We are not going to send weapons to Ukraine.

Another thing is if there is a country that wants to replace our weapons with modern and no less powerful ones, thus creating a decisive deterrent force. In Ukraine, sending is out of the question.”

When asked if he would move to Lebanese Parliamentso there is EEZ ratification, the president said that “non-ratification by the Lebanese parliament was the presence of this particular dispute, that there were some doubts, etc. I believe that the way is open, yes, for it should also be ratified by Lebanon.”
