More than two weeks have passed since the strike by CGT TotalEnergies and Esso-ExxonMobil workers, which caused blocking oil refineries and fuel warehouses France, which caused many disruptions in the distribution of fuel on a national scale.
In the midst of this conflict between the unions and their employers, French motorists are held hostage in spite of themselves, and many of them find themselves in personal and professional difficulties, facing lack of fuel which affects most service stations in France.
Shortage of fuel: driving schools are in trouble
If some priority professionsamong which we find the police, ambulance, emergency vehicles, medical personnel vehicles, water supply, gas, electricity, food transport services or even taxis, have priority access to service stations, other professions for which the use of the car is essential, are not recognized as such.
This is the case driving school, who suffer more and more from the situation. Indeed, it is difficult for driving school professionals to find a service station that is not dry, and when precious fuel is available, long waits for refueling lead to delays in driving lessons, as well as many cancellations by students.
The fuel shortage continues to worsen. Faced with such a situation, some service stations have taken restrictive measures. https://t.co/3ms9C8oDBH

Lack of fuel: cars stand still
Even if most driving schools haven’t dropped the curtain yet, this the situation is particularly tense : The heads of driving schools fear that they will have to introduce their employees into a state of technical or partial unemployment. A difficult decision to make in the current context after several years of difficulties related to the health care crisis.
One of the regions most affected by this phenomenon is Ile-de-France, where fuel is now becoming difficult to find. The few stations that are still in operation are overrun by motorists, creating endless queues and numerous traffic jams. Some driving schools that use electric cars for driving lessons have not been affected by the shortage.
Fuel shortage: A confusing situation
On the part of oil companies, the strike continues and the situation reached an impasse: the movement was renewed by trade unionists from five TotalEnergies enterprises, despite the management’s invitation to enter into negotiations. In Bouches-du-Rhône, workers at the Esso-ExxonMobil oil refinery in Foss-sur-Mer end their strike.
The situation is not going to improve if we believe the CGT, which is calling for a “general strike” on Tuesday 18 October 2022. In addition to fuel shortages, many difficulties will be additional costs, so the French, especially in transport.
Today, refueling is a miracle, especially in Haut-de-France and Ile-de-France. But what are the conditions to see the end of the tunnel of this “deficit”? https://t.co/kSihP1B8KD
