
Now that Polestar has settled its legal problems with Citroën, the Swedish firm’s 100% electric premium car can finally land in France: the opportunity to introduce its first SUV, Polar star 3.

There are five seats on board and a boot of 484 liters (including 90 liters under the floor), which can increase to 1,411 liters with the rear seats folded down, while there is a small 32 liter boot under the front hood.
Polestar 3: Swedish style
The Polestar 3’s styling is sleek and futuristic, with a deep hood and a closed grille that emphasizes the ‘smart zone’, which hides a variety of radars, sensors and cameras to control the many driving assistance systems. The lines are smooth and straight, rising towards the rear, connecting with the tailgate, which originates in the sloping roofline.
Inside, the controls have been reduced to their simplest form, and in the center of the instrument panel we find a huge 14.5-inch vertical touch screenequipped with the Android Automotive OS system developed jointly with Google, as well as a screen that functions as an instrument panel and is placed in front of the driver.

Polestar 3: more than 600 km of autonomy
Under the hood of the Polestar 3, there are two electric motors that provide the total power 490 horsepower and 840 Nm of torque. As an option, a performance package let’s increase these numbers to 517 horsepower and 910 Nm. Despite its curb weight of up to 2.67 tons, the Polestar 3 is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.0 seconds (4.7 seconds with the Performance package) and reach a top speed of 210 km/h.
The 400 V lithium-ion battery has a nominal capacity of 111 kWh, which allows range up to 610 km according to the WLTP cycle. It is compatible with fast charging up to 250kW DC and 11kW AC. The Polestar 3 is also equipped with bi-directional charging capabilities, which will allow it to offer V2G (vehicle-to-grid) functionality in the future.
Polestar 3: launch in 2023
From October 12, 2022, orders for the Polestar 3 will be accepted in Europe at the introductory price. from 89,900 euros in Germany. Even if the prices in France have not yet been announced, they should be relatively close to those practiced on the Rhine.
The release of the Polestar 3 is planned for next year, and the first deliveries are expected on fourth quarter of 2023. It will be produced in China, at the Volvo plant in Chengdu, as well as in the United States, in Ridgeville, South Carolina.
