
For several days now, owners of cars with the BMW OS 8.0 operating system can use it for free software update “07-22” remotely (“Over the Air”), while those with BMW OS 7.0 will also be affected soon.
In general, not less than 3.8 million BMW cars will be able to take advantage of this new remote update, which will bring many improvements as well as new features related to infotainment, driving, driving aids, driver assistance, comfort and safety.
BMW update: new features
In more detail, we note the arrival of significant improvements in 100% electric route planning BMW Maps GPS navigation system for BMW iX and BMW i4 produced before July 2022: the system offers an optimized recharging route if the vehicle’s range is insufficient to reach the destination.
For all models with OS 8.0 released before July 2022, BMW’s intelligent personal assistant enriched with new functions: it is equipped with about twenty different visual effects, and also allows interaction with active cruise control and parking assistance. The time can now be displayed with the new Qlocktwo design, which communicates the time using a matrix of words that changes every five minutes.

BMW update: Amazon Alexa arrives
A new software update also allowsintegrate Amazon Alexa in systems with BMW OS 8.0 manufactured before July 2022: this voice assistant provides access to many connected functions and control of compatible smart home devices from your car.
On the BMW iX and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer, produced until July 2022, two new driving modes “Expressive” and “Relax” appear, allowing you to choose between a more impressive or a more soothing driving experience. Both models also receiveConnectedDrive Store integrationto add new features remotely, for a fee, such as heated seats.
BMW update: the driver assistance system has been expanded.
The latest update makes it easier to add a car with OS 8.0 My BMW appand also allows you to add up to seven users (depending on the model) of one car, each with their own BMW ID.
New opportunities This new update will also be introduced on the BMW iX and BMW 2 Series Active Tourer launched by July 2022, with flashing exterior lighting linked to the departure warning function as well as lane keeping with braking. The system can now react to oncoming vehicles, such as when turning, to help the driver avoid possible collisions.
