Bulgaria on Tuesday denied reports that the truck that caused the massive explosion that damaged the Kerch Bridge, which connects the Crimean Peninsula to Russia, had driven through its territory, Reuters reported.

According to the head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, Oleksandr Bastrykin, the car drove through Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, South Ossetia and Russia’s Krasnodar region before reaching the bridge.

“It has been established beyond doubt that the truck blown up on the Crimean bridge was never on the territory of Bulgaria,” the government said in a statement.

“The Bulgarian government will not under any circumstances allow the country’s name to be associated with any involvement in terrorist activities,” the statement said.

After the explosion, Russia intensified its attack on Ukraine. On Sunday, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine of organizing the explosion, calling it a “terrorist act.”

Bulgarian counterintelligence has launched an investigation after Russia says the truck that caused the explosion on the Kerch Bridge, which connects the Crimean peninsula to its territory, allegedly left Bulgaria, a member state of the European Union.
