Salome Zurabishvili, the President of Georgia, will be received on Tuesday at Kotrocheni Palace by President Klaus Iohannis on the occasion of her official visit to our country.

President Salome Zurabishvili’s visit to Bucharest takes place in the jubilee context, this year Romania and Georgia celebrate 30 years since the restoration of diplomatic relations, reports Agerpres

As reported in the Presidential Administration, the political consultations of Presidents Klaus Iohannis and Salome Zurabishvili will focus on the latest events and transformations at the regional and international levels, especially on deep changes in the security environment of the Black Sea region against the background of the aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine. Minister of Foreign Affairs Bohdan Aurescu will also take part in the discussions.

Decisions made at the NATO summit in Madrid regarding this space and, accordingly, at the European Council in June in Brussels regarding Georgia’s European perspective will also be considered.

Discussions with President Salome Zurabishvili will also focus on concrete ways to increase communication between Romania and Georgia, capitalizing on the transit potential between Europe and Asia of the two countries in terms of transport, energy and people-to-people contacts.

At the end of the negotiations, the two presidents will sign a Joint Declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership between Romania and Georgia.

Salome Zurabishvili will also have meetings with Prime Minister Nikolae Chuke and President of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Cholaku.

The President of Georgia will pay an official visit to Romania at the invitation of President Klaus Iohannis.
