Moldova said three cruise missiles fired by Russia over Ukraine crossed Moldovan airspace on Monday and that it had summoned the Russian ambassador for an explanation, Reuters reported.

“Three cruise missiles launched this morning at Ukraine from Russian ships in the Black Sea crossed the airspace of the Republic of Moldova. I have given instructions to summon the Russian ambassador for an explanation,” wrote the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova on Twitter to Nik. Popescu

The head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, said that Ukrainian forces shot down 41 missiles fired by Russia, Reuters reports.

“75 rockets were launched this morning. 41 missiles were neutralized by means of anti-aircraft defense,” the Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhny, wrote on Twitter.

Russia has increased the number of combat-capable missile ships in the Black Sea to six, the Southern Operational Command reports, Ukrainian Pravda reports.

“Eleven ships of the enemy’s fleet are maneuvering off the coast of Crimea in the Black Sea. The enemy has suddenly increased the number of ships armed with combat-capable missiles to six, including two submarines,” the Southern Operational Command said in a Facebook message.
