“Russia’s response to this crime can only be the direct destruction of terrorists. The way it is accepted in the world. This is what the citizens of Russia are waiting for,” Medvedev said.

According to the vice-president of the Security Council of Russia, “the author and perpetrator of the crime is the failed state of Ukraine.”

“This is a terrorist attack and sabotage of the criminal regime in Kyiv. There are no doubts and there were none. All reports and conclusions have been made,” Medvedev also said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to convene the National Security Council on Monday after Saturday’s explosion partially destroyed the Kerch Bridge, built specifically on Putin’s orders and connecting Crimea to Russia.

Ukraine did not directly claim responsibility for the attack.
