
“Activities under the pressure of unprecedented sanctions pose new challenges to the agricultural sector,” Vladimir Putin said in a video speech on the occasion of the Day of Agricultural and Industrial Workers, TASS reports, Novosti reports. ro.
“We will solve them together, with the support of the state, using sanctions for our own development,” added the head of the Kremlin.
Putin said that Russia needed to improve its “technological sovereignty in agriculture”.
“Therefore, we must improve our potential in breeding, seed genetics and seed production, stimulate the transition to modern equipment and technologies, and create conditions for additional investments,” he added.
The Russian government approved an updated industry strategy in September that includes these tasks, Putin said.
On the other hand, he said that Russia is ready to participate in solving global food problems and help especially the poorest countries, the president said on Sunday.
“We fully satisfy the domestic demand for basic essential products and ensure reliable food security. In addition, we are developing our export potential and, I would like to emphasize this, we are ready to help overcome global food challenges and provide the necessary assistance to the poorest developing countries,” Putin said in his speech.
