The Oscar-nominated actor plays Enzo Ferrari, a former racing driver whose tumultuous marriage to Laura Ferrari (Penelope Cruz) forces him to bet everything on the last race. The director of the biopic “Ferrari” is Michael Mannin a screenplay he co-wrote with Troy Kennedy Martin (The Italian Job).
Mann, a four-time nominee, is also the film’s producer. The cast is completed by Shailene Woodley, Patrick Dempsey, Jack O’Connell, Gabrielle Leone and Sarah Gadon.

The official description reads: The film takes place in the summer of 1957. The former Ferrari driver is in crisis. The company he and his wife Laura built from scratch 10 years ago is on the brink of bankruptcy. A tumultuous marriage struggles to survive, mourning one son and acknowledging another. He decides to make up for his losses by betting on a race – 1000 years in Italy.
Filming took place in Italy. Mann brings his passion for characters to the big screen, creating a fusion of art in motion and Ferrari-like racing power. The film presents the volatile and dangerous world of motorsport in the 1950s.
The film is based on the book Enzo Ferrari – Man and Machine by Brock Yates.
