A10 by Artmark auction house celebrates the centenary of the coronation by organizing the Jubilee Auction of Art and History – Centenary of Royal Romania on October 18, the exhibition of which opens today. A historical moment that happened 100 years ago is reconstructed in the Česianu Rakovice Palace with the help of collectible or rare items that belonged to King Ferdinand or Queen Maria. More than 200 historical objects are appearing at public auctions in Romania for the first time – from works of art, vintage photographs with the holographic signature of Queen Mary, documents signed by crowned persons, dedicated volumes, important correspondence to objects that record everyday life. from the royal period to neo-Romanian pieces of furniture, including those made in the workshops of Sinaia, for which Queen Maria drew designs.

The special feature of the auction is the icon “The Mother of God with the Child”, which comes from the collection of Queen Mary. It is known that after the Great Union, Queen Mary developed a collection of icons of the Royal House, and the work from the auction on October 18 was presented by the Queen to the British artist Lilian as a sign of gratitude. Mayer on the occasion of her visit to Kotrochen in 1930. Collector’s item with black ink holographic label on reverse in English: “Taken from the wall of Kotrocen Palace by Her Majesty Queen Maria of Romania and presented by Miss Lilian Mayer”, starting price only €450. Subsequently, Queen Mary commissioned the artist Lillian Mayer for several decorations and sketches.

Queen Mary’s passion for painting happily complemented her literary talent, both recognized by contemporaries. Therefore, the work done by Queen Mary cannot be done without. The watercolor “Irises” made in the Art Nouveau style is for sale at a starting price of 1,500 euros. Along with Queen Mary’s work, a set of floral watercolors by Queen Elizabeth of Romania, embodying the 1899 calendar, is up for auction. The extremely rare piece, which lavishly illustrates the Queen’s craftsmanship, has a starting price of €3,000. The calendar of the collection consists of 8 pages and a cover painted with bouquets of Romanian flowers, different for each month, and inside contains the queen’s panseu, holographic and autographed, in French: “Every song that comes from my pure heart is a praise. Divine!”.

The military segment of the auction is headed by an extremely rare 1876 Cavalry Saber, decorated with a notch with the coat of arms of Romania, used by a Romanian officer in the 1877 War of Independence. A rare pre-Union model, the starting price is 600 euros. Also from the period of the War of Independence is a bracelet with the inscription “Independent Romania”, the starting price of which is 200 euros, it belonged to a veteran of the war of 1877-1878 and was made of silver by the Markowitsch & Scheid workshop (other works by Georg Adam Scheid can be found in the collection of the National Museum Pelesha).

The art and history anniversary auction is also complemented by a special selection of vintage photographs with holographic signatures of members of the royal family – Queen Mary on Coronation Day, King Ferdinand or King Charles I, depicted at important historical events or with great personalities of the time. Collection photos have starting prices from 50 to 500 euros.

Historical exhibits from the auction dedicated to the centenary of the coronation can be admired in the Česianu-Rakovice Palace. Access is free from Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00.
