On Thursday evening, Emilia Serkan explained in a Facebook post that she was aware of Minister Lucian Bode’s doctoral dissertation, a document that, according to the journalist, can only be viewed digitally at the National Library.

Emilia Serkan’s reaction came after Bode said he would face in court those who claim his doctoral dissertation was classified.

What the journalist wrote on Facebook:

“I know better than Dr. Bode how things are going with his PhD, let me tell you.

1. According to Romanian law, after the public defense, a copy of the doctoral thesis is sent to the National Library and the library of the university or faculty where the work was defended.

2. Dr. Bode’s thesis is in the National Library, but it is not available on paper, only in digital format, because since 2016 it has been forbidden to read theses on paper.

3. Dr. Bode’s thesis has been digitized because I requested it and can be viewed on a computer without internet access. Screenshots of precious scientific creation are prohibited.

4. Since 2020, the National Register of Doctoral Dissertations has been operating, where all doctoral dissertations defended after 2016 are available, except for those whose authors requested to publish the book within two years after the public defense.

5. This is also the case of Dr. Bode, who decided to publish his valuable doctoral thesis in a book in 2021 with the same title as the thesis: “Energy security and resource management at the beginning of the 21st century: Romania in the current European context”. 6. Dr. Bode said this evening that he has sent his precious scientific work, published in book form, to the Central University Library (BCU) of the Babes Bolyai University and to the National Library, but what to see? The book is not on the shelf either at the BCU in Cluj or at the National Library.

7. I recently asked the National Library if the publishing house where the book came out had sent them, as required by the Library Act, 7 copies. The response received, signed by the director, Adrian Coroianu, states: “The title is currently unavailable to users, as the processing of the title and the copy destined for the current collections of the National Library of Romania has not been completed. completed.”

8. I wonder, but I also publicly ask how long it may take to process the book to reach the readers, and above all, how long it will take to process the book with Dr. Bode’s science, since it is now two years since its publication.

9. Tonight I also went to the online catalog from BCU Cluj, and lo and behold, the book with Dr. Bode’s science is also not available for readers.

Dr. Bode had Adrian Ivan, the rector of the SRI Academy, as his doctoral thesis coordinator, and the publishing house where he published a book that is not available in any library in Romania had the same Adrian Ivan as a collaborator in the past.
