Florida is still counting the wounds inflicted by one of the worst hurricanes in recent years. The official count is 76 deaths (72 in Florida and 4 in North Carolina), but US media reports that the death toll is more than a hundred.

Determined to put aside political differences with Republican Gov. Ron DeSandis, President Biden will meet with him to discuss relief and reparation priorities.
“There will be many opportunities to discuss the differences between the president and the governor. But now is not the time,” said White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.
The name of 44-year-old Ron DeSandes often appears on lists of possible Republican presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election.
