What if charging your electric scooter was no longer a hassle? At a time when manyusers of electric two-wheeled vehicles sometimes it is difficult to find the right infrastructure for your car, the young startup Zeway offers a new and very practical solution. Battery replacement. A very simple handling system that brings a real solution regarding electric mobility in the city. Thence to make Zeway the the best offer on the market about electric scooters? We explain everything about this new player in the field of electric mobility.
Zeway, the new big player in urban mobility?
Zeway is a story two French car entrepreneurs from the world of photovoltaics, Stephanie Gosse and Amory Korniloff. The latter, inspired by the technologies used in Asia, quickly wanted to provide a solution for charging electric scooters. They created Zeway in 2019. Stephanie Gossett, co-founder, explains that “People chose the scooter to save time. So having to spend several hours recharging the battery creates a real problem.. Therefore, the company revolves its commercial strategy around ultra-fast charging and rentals. An offer that thus responds to market trends in electric two-wheeler mobility, where demand is increasingly focused on monthly subscription, with or without obligation.
While Zeway is currently only available in Paris, the company wants to expand to several other major cities in France and Europe.
What services are offered?
Zeway offers several subscription offers for a the range of scooters is currently limited (3 models available). The latter is set to expand in the coming months, with the arrival of a 3-wheel electric scooter.
The company allows you to have access to a 50cc or 125cc electric scooter, which we show you just below. No matter which range you choose, insurance (Allianz) and maintenance (Doc’Biker) are included in the subscription price and mileage is unlimited. Battery replacement is freeas well as access to the mobile application.
So you have your own scooter and a network of shared batteries, so you don’t have to charge your car somewhere. The formula is well thought out and allows you to have access to a personal electric scooterconnected to an extensive charging network.
Replenishment in 50 seconds and an already developed network
This is the slogan put forward by a young startup, charges your scooter in 50 seconds. An ambitious concept, but brilliantly delivered by the company. The operation is simple and is performed in three stages. You restore the discharged battery of your scooter (some 10 kg box), bring it to the nearest Zeway terminal, where you collect a full battery on the same terminal, which you then reinstall in your scooter. And that’s all. Changing is like taking off your shopping bag and putting it back on the scooter.
To ensure optimal coverage of your charging stations, Zeway has established several partnerships. Especially with a brand Monoprix, as well as with BNP Paribas and a large chain of local stores (laundry, etc.). Thus, each user finds a Zeway charging station less than two kilometers from their home. Thus, the latter are placed at the entrance to Monoprix stores, bank branches and small shops.
Use is strictly reserved for Zeway subscribers. You will find these terminals in Inner Paris, as well as in the inner and outer suburbs. The mobile application allows you to find the nearest charging station. Zeway guarantees its customers constant access to a charged battery, and replacement is free and unlimited.
Note that you can always charge the scooter thanks to the presence of a regular outlet. Zeway also offers a charging base for the battery that you can plug in at home.
How is the ZeWay range made up?
The Zeway range is broken down as follows, offering 50cc with models swapperOne and change X and the 125 cc range with the model swapperX+. L’autonomy of scooters between the two swap ranges between 40 and 60 kilometers. Discover the technical description of Zeway scooters:

Our opinion on the swapperOne version (50 cm3): swapperOne is easy to use and quite convenient. Electric motorization allows you to get the benefits of frank accelerations. Be careful though, this instant power is enough to knock off less experienced riders, even with 50cc. Three movement modes allow you to dose and control electricity as best as possible. The fact that the scooter is equipped with combined front and rear brakes ensures linear and safe braking. The SwapperOne is also lightweight and glides easily through traffic. The main drawback of this scooter is its practicality. To get the accessory package, which allows you to get a 40-liter top case, you will have to pay 400 euros. Because without this backpack it is difficult to store something on board (due to the presence of a battery under the saddle).
Is the Zeway offer more economical than buying an electric scooter?
The Zeway offer also appears really more interesting? The first subscription is available at 130 euros per month for the swapperOne model. Definitely an attractive price as it offers unlimited mileage insurance and maintenance. But that price comes with a 36-month commitment that involves a total cost 4680 euros for 3 years (36 months). A price that remains more competitive than subscription offers on exchange platforms (Cityscoot, Yego, etc.). But is it more interesting than the purchase or LOA of an electric scooter.
The average price of a new electric scooter from 50 cc well equipped approx 3000 euros. after deduction of environmental bonus, the price drops from 2,000 to 2,500 euros. Add to this a the average annual budget is 600 euros (insurance, maintenance, charging for 5000 km/year) and you get a scooter for €4100-4600 over three years. During this period, your scooter is returned to you on average from 114 to 128 euros per month. This is a monthly rate close to what Zeway offers.
As for the 125cc offering, Zeway offers a a monthly subscription with a commitment of 149 euros per month for three years. This is a total of 5,364 euros. The average price of a new 125cc electric scooter is around 4,000 euros (3,100 euros after receiving the environmental bonus). WITH the average annual budget is 800 euros (insurance, maintenance, charging for 5,000 km/year), buying a 125 cm3 costs 5,500 euros. Or a an average monthly budget of 152 euros over three years. Again, this is slightly higher than what Zeway offers. Please note that we have not included in the displayed prices the aid provided by the City Hall of Paris, the Metropolis of Greater Paris and the Île-de-France region, which allow the prices of new buildings to fall a little further.
Be that as it may, the young startup remains very inexpensive and occupies an average place in the sector. To ensure customer loyalty, Zeway offers great price offers after the commitment period. It remains to be seen whether the company will be able to entice customers with its offering. Zeway guarantees that it will be able to meet the demand in any case. Professional offers are also available. Enough to make Zeway a serious player in the electric mobility market in the city.
Which opens up great prospects for the young company, which is also attracting the attention of big names in the automotive industry interested in the concept of replacing batteries.
