Community Movie Coming – Peacock Platform Greenlight

US streaming platform Peacock announced on Friday that it had given the green light to the film.Community‘, seven years after the classic, cult series finale.

The feature film will essentially be a reunion of Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rush and Ken Chong.

Series creator Dan Harmon is writing the film’s story with Andrew Guest (who wrote several fan-favorite episodes such as “Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” and “A Fistful of Paintballs”). The film is expected to be released in 2023.

“The catchphrase ‘six seasons and a movie’ was heard in the early seasons of Community and quickly sparked a movement of fans wanting a continuation of the iconic NBC sitcom,” said Susan Rovner, Chief Entertainment Officer for NBC Universal Television. “We are grateful that, 15 years later, we can give fans the film we promised, and we look forward to working with everyone involved.”

However, no information about the content of the film has yet been received. The press release only mentions that the film is taken “from a television series that announced its own film after the final episode aired.”

All six seasons of Community are available on Hulu, Netflix and Prime Video.
