DNA Chief Prosecutor Krin Bologa said on Thursday evening that by the time the National Anti-Corruption Directorate lost its powers to investigate judges, more than 160 prosecutors and judges had been sent to court for corruption, and none of them had been charged with such acts, he said. Agerpres.
Responding to TVR Info’s question about the anti-corruption expert’s remarks about the disappearance of corruption among judges after the creation of the crime investigation department in the judicial system, Bologa answered:
- “By 2018, we sent approximately 160 prosecutors and judges to court for corruption, and most of them were convicted. Well, from 2018 until today, not a single prosecutor or judge has been brought to justice for corruption, much less to court. Fighting grand corruption also means fighting corruption in the judicial system. I hope that the prosecutors who are now tasked with conducting criminal investigations will have results in this area, because (…) it is hard to believe that corruption has disappeared from the judicial system due to the loss of DNA competence.
