Google wants the search engine to be more interactive, full of images, and the Maps app will have more search capabilities and show you more about the most popular places in the neighborhood. Google is well aware that young people no longer have the patience to search for classic text links that appear in search results, and is making changes in small steps.
Google continues the trend of the last 2-3 years: in the search results, not only classic links are displayed, but also images, videos or prices (if it is a search for goods). One Google executive says that “the smartphone is the new keyboard,” and the idea is that you can search for more and more things just by pointing your phone’s camera at something and then get information.
Advances in artificial intelligence and “computer vision” technologies will allow the development of what Google calls “multisearch”, which combines several types of search (text, photo, image).
Google says that more complex searches, combining images and text, can be started by pointing the camera at something, such as a couch or a T-shirt. For example, if you take a photo of a green dress, you can add text saying you want the same dress but in yellow and it will search for that type of product.
Searches like this, starting with an image, have been available for some time, but soon they will be able to be expanded with the ability to add text to the search to get results that are as close as possible to what you wanted to find.
Google says it will also focus on augmented reality for video camera searches. Two years ago, the Live View option appeared on Maps, with the help of which, with the help of arrows, you can see on the phone’s camera exactly where to go to the destination. The company will improve things so that you can see through augmented reality how you get to a restaurant, store or ATM.
The changes to Maps will make it easier for users to find nearby restaurants that have the best reviews, for example, and it will also be easier to access graphs that show when each location is the busiest time of day.
