‘Peaky Blinders’ Creator: The Series Could Return to TV With New Stories

Creator of the popular British TV series Peaky Blinders Stephen Knight stated that the story could return to television with a new creative team.

In particular, he said on the BBC TV program Midlands Today that “new stories set in the 1950s” could be created.

The sixth season also marked the last for the drama series starring Cillian Murphy, but Knight said, “If viewers want more content set in this world, we’ll continue.”

In addition, he said he plans to hand over the script after the film’s release in 2024.

Knight made the comment Tuesday at the world premiere of a new dance show at Birmingham Racecourse called The Atonement of Thomas Shelby.

As for the series, which aired on the BBC One network, its creator originally intended for seven seasons, set in post-war Birmingham, and the story would follow the Shelby family in their daily and professional lives.

But in 2021, it was announced that the sixth cycle of the series would be the final one, at least on the small screen. Then we will watch it on the big screen. Filming will begin in Birmingham and film studios in early 2023.

Peaky Blinders originally premiered in September 2013 on BBC Two and quickly grew from over two million views in the first season to four million views in the fourth season.

The broadcast on BBC One took place with the fifth season, in 2019, and then the numbers “soared” to more than 5 million viewers.

During its run, the series has received a significant number of awards, including BAFTA (2018) and the National Television Award (NTA).
