On Tuesday, Iryna Begu (the third favorite) reached the 1/8 finals of the WTA 250 tournament in Parma.

Our athlete passed in two sets with a score of 7-5, 5-1 against Victoria Tomova (93 WTA). The player from Bulgaria decided to withdraw, although she did not necessarily have physical problems. The match lasted one hour and 41 minutes.

  • For reaching the 1/8 finals, Iryna will receive 3065 euros and 30 points in the WTA singles ranking.
  • Begu will fight the winner of the match between Gabriela Lee Talaba (150 WTA) and Matilde Paoletti (366 in the world) for a place in the quarters.
  • Romania also has the third representative of the main draw from Parma, Ana Bohdan. The sixth favorite will meet Anna Karolina Schmidlova (118 WTA) in the 1/8 finals.

The Parma Ladies Open runs from September 26 to October 1 on clay, has a total prize pool of $251,750, is part of the WTA 250 category, and is headlined by Coco Gauff (not competing in this year’s tournament).
