The experienced player from Arada took two hours to get past Ionel (283 ATP), 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

For a place in the main draw of the competition in Israel, Kopil (351 ATP) will fight with Vasek Pospisil (Canada, 142 ATP and the second favorite of qualification).

The Tel Aviv Watergen Open will be held from September 26 to October 2 on the hard court, with a prize pool of $949,475. The main favorite of the competition will be Novak Djokovic.

At this competition in 1983, Aaron Krickstein became the youngest tennis player to win an ATP tournament (16 years and 2 months, a record that still stands).
