
CSM Bucharest, the Romanian runners-up, ended the incredible streak of 58 consecutive victories of the German team Bietigheim. The two teams finished tied, 28-28, in the third leg of Group A of the Champions League.
Bittigheim started the game better in the multi-purpose hall, leading in the first half and scoring in the first and second halves of the match (17-13).
Adrian Vasile’s team made an impressive comeback to take the lead (23-21), but missed an opportunity to break away and the German champion took the lead again.
One and a half minutes before the end of the match, Bittigheim led the score 28-26, but the “tigers” defended well and in the last phase scored an equalizing goal (28-28).
CSM’s top scorers were Kristina Nyagu (8 goals) and Krina Pintja (6), while Bittigheim had Kudlach-Glock and Mala (both 5).

- The team from Germany has not lost a single match for more than a year and a half (last defeat in March 2021 against Borussia Dortmund).
- In the first two contests of the group, CSM Bucharest won 30-28 against Crimea Ljubljana and 33-26 against Brest Bretagne Handball.
- In the fourth stage of CSM Bucharest, an away match is scheduled on October 9, with Odense Handball.
