Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters, 79, has canceled planned concerts in Poland amid outrage over his stance on Russia’s war against Ukraine, Polish media reported Saturday, citing the AP and News.
An official at the Tauron Arena in Krakow, where Waters was scheduled to play two concerts in April, said they would not take place.
“Roger Waters’ manager has decided to leave the team … without explanation,” Tauron Arena Krakow’s Lukasz Pytko said on Saturday.
Waters’ This Is Not a Drill tour website no longer lists the Krakow concerts previously scheduled for April 21-22.
Members of Krakow’s local council were to vote next week on a proposal to make Waters persona non grata, expressing their “outrage” at the musician’s stance on the war in Ukraine.
Earlier this month, Waters wrote an open letter to Ukraine’s first lady, Olena Zelenska, in which he accused Ukrainian “extreme nationalists” of “setting the country on the path to this catastrophic war.”
He also criticized the West for supplying weapons to Ukraine, blaming, in particular, the United States.
Waters also criticized NATO, accusing the North Atlantic Alliance of provoking Russia.
