For the nightmarish moments he experienced on Friday morning outside the courts of Chania. where he was attacked by an unknown to talk to cathimerini.gr Attorney Manolis Papadomanolakis.

Shortly before 10:00 am, while the lawyer was talking to two of his clients, a man approached him and attacked him with a blunt object, wounding him in the neck.

“It was about 9.40 in the morning when I arrived at the court. I got off my bike and started chatting with two of my clients. While I was talking to them, someone suddenly came up behind me and hit me with a blunt object in the neck on the right side.” described Mr. Papadomanolakis, adding that he had not been able to see the assailant, neither himself nor the two clients he had spoken to.

“No one realized that the man in question had aggressive behavior. When I received the attack, I was taken by surprise. If he had aimed at a different point, then the attack could have been fatal. However, out of the corner of my eye, I saw that the attacker started to run. Fortunately, the injury was minor and my life was not in danger.”.

When asked if the man said anything to him during the attack, Mr. Papadomanolakis stated that he did not hear anything, however, one of the two men he spoke to told him that he heard the attacker say: “I told you I’d find you wherever you go”.

“I don’t know who might be behind the attack. Maybe it’s someone against me” concluded the lawyer.

Christos Pramateutakis, President of the Chania Bar Association, spoke to Flashnews.gr about the unprecedented, unacceptable and reprehensible incident.

As he characteristically said, “This is a criminally punishable act, since hitting a colleague on the neck with a sharp object can lead to death. Manolis Papadomanolakis is a member of the Board of Directors of the Chania Bar Association and a colleague who serves justice with courage and humility.”
