Singer Willow Smith opened up about her relationship with her father, actor, producer and rapper Will Smith in a new interview.

The 21-year-old singer is the youngest child of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith. The couple also have a son, Jayden, who is 24.

When asked about the incident at this year’s Academy Awards, during which Will Smith took the stage and slapped host Chris Rock for making a joke on his wife Jada, Willow Smith stressed in an interview with The Guardian: “I love my dad.”

“My parents are my best friends. They are both wonderful people. I love them not only because they are my parents, but also because they are Will and Jada, who have their own beautiful, complex and amazing minds and hearts.

Willow Smith said that at the family dinner table, “her father is definitely joking,” adding: “The kids are a little quieter, a little more relaxed. My father is the most active. That’s why he’s amazing, because he has infinite energy. My mom, me and my brothers are more introverted and analyze things more.”

Willow Smith in his interview mentions, among other things, that in addition to positive emotions, it is important to express negative ones as well. “I cannot stay in this ethereal, celestial, well-vibrated state all the time. Sometimes you need to listen to your feelings… Negative feelings can be purifying. We don’t always have answers, and that’s okay,” he said.

Willow Smith has a 29-year-old half-brother Trey, Will Smith’s son from his first marriage.

When asked if she likes the life of a rock star, the singer notes that “it’s a process, a journey, sometimes hard, but that’s what makes life beautiful.”
