
Former WTA No. 1 Naomi Osaka withdrew from the Pan Pacific Open (September 19-25) in Tokyo on Thursday.
Naomi Osaka, 24, was due to meet Brazil’s Beatrice Haddad Maia in the second round, but had to withdraw, citing her “body’s inability” to defend her chances.

Osaka, currently ranked 48th in the WTA rankings, has struggled with anxiety and depression in recent seasons and her performances on the tennis court have suffered greatly.
The Toray Pan Pacific Open Tennis tournament is held from September 19 to 25, has a total prize pool of $757,900 and is part of the WTA 500. The 2019 tournament (last played) was won by Naomi Osaka.

Unlucky for Naomi, who has reached the final three times in the last four editions of this tournament.
