Right in front 9 years old, on the night of September 17-18, 2013, 34 year old Paul Fissas, known in the domestic hip-hop world as Killa P, he was in a cafe in Nice with friends to watch a football match.
After a short time, a skirmish began with a neighboring group, which, as it turned out, was not football, but had deep political motives, since shortly before this, reinforcements from among people from a local organization arrived golden dawn, which a year earlier in the May elections in 2012 was elected 6th party in parliament with a percentage 6.97% and in June the fifth batch with a percentage 6.92%. (And in his election 2015 A.A. became the third party in parliament).
The 45-year-old man was among those who were at the cafe in Nice that night. George Rupakias which he gave, he stabbed Pavlos Fissas three times. The rapper, known for his anti-fascist actions and attitude, was flown to Nice after midnight but died from his injuries. Nine months earlier, on January 17, 2013 27 year old Pakistani Shahzat Lukman was killed in Petralona by 29-year-old Christos Stergiopoulos and 25-year-old Dionysis Lyakopoulos, members of the Golden Dawn.
OUR death of Pavlos Fyssas he also acted as a catalyst for unraveling the tangle of criminal activities of the neo-Nazi party. And lead, of course, to the long-standing – and praised – test of the golden dawn which began in 2015 and ended on October 7, 2020. No one will forget the day when thousands of people gathered around the Areopagus to hear the long-awaited decision: The Golden Dawn was declared a criminal organization, and a total of 51 members, as well as party deputies, were found guilty. Among them is the head of AA, Nikos Michaloliakos sentenced to 13 years and 6 months in prison. OUR George Rupakias, Fissa’s killer was sentenced to life imprisonment plus 14 years in prison.
Fascism, at least as organized crime, finally lost its grip on Greece.
Pavlos Fissas is one of them again modern symbol of anti-fascism. A statue in Nice, graffiti on the walls of the city, a slogan in the mouth that feels restless. Together with his mother Magda Fissa, who all these years has been a model of patience and perseverance, not only for her own son, but for everyone who, like her son, for the very sense of justice.
All of this means that we will always have a reason to remember the murder of Pavlos Fissas – and not just these days.
That’s what they do too Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Jeff Gonzalez and Pavlos Pavlidis with a few important words about Pavlos Fiss:
Eleftheria Arvanitaki: “The concert I gave on the night of the murder was the most embarrassing thing I have ever done”

On the day of the murder of Pavlos Fissa, I was in Patras for a concert.
As soon as I found out, I froze, and my first thought was to cancel the concert. But it was already too late, the people had already gathered, and demonstrations had already begun in Patras. That evening I gave the most “uncomfortable” concert I have ever done. I was on the stage, but I would like to be on the demonstration. Nine years have passed since then.
We don’t forget, that’s for sure.
The murder of Pavlos Fissas gave us a great gift: it woke us up, made us think and fight for the destruction of the world in which we live.
We will tell his story, they will tell it. Let’s talk about it.
Pavlos Fyssas is now a symbol of the fight against fascism, solidarity and the vision of a better world.
Thank you Paul, you are in our hearts.
Jeff Gonzalez: The “social sacrifice” of Pavlos Fissas is something that could happen to any of us.

On the day of the murder, I was in my apartment, and the next day I actually found out from a friend’s message on the Internet that they “ate Paul.”
Even though I didn’t know him, the news evoked different feelings about the events of those days.
Golden Dawn was the sixth party in parliament, everywhere I heard stories about thugs, as a person of color, I always thought that at some point I too, sooner or later, will succeed in some order. Or some arrogant gold digger or like-minded person.
The fiasco of those days was strange and now seems like a distant nightmare, but not so far away. The situation got so out of control that I remember feeling that sooner or later they would do something irreversible, first for society and then for themselves.
Unfortunately, this happened to Pavlos. Unjustifiably, but through all this, a slap in the face came to society: that we sleep standing up, and scumbags hang out around us, and, unfortunately, we helped and allowed this. The phenomenon of Nazism, racism and any similar ideology flourishes by itself not in a day or a year. It’s simmering to the point where we’ve experienced it, somehow we endured it, so it’s become normal.
To me, Paul’s public sacrifice is something to be remembered as something that could have happened to any of us. I am grateful that there are and were people who did everything possible and fought against such cancer so that the death of Pavel and all the victims did not seem in vain.
I congratulate his family on the strength and resilience they have shown throughout this process. Having personally experienced the loss of a family member under similar circumstances, I honor what constitutes life and death for a man who, through his art and life, sought to give joy, not be afraid of the dark, and live freely.
Pavlos Pavlidis: “Every day Pavlos Fissas radiates the clearest light, like a beacon”

The murder of Pavlos Fyssas may be the darkest moment in recent Greek history, but from that moment on, Pavlos, eternally young and brilliant, sends us the clearest light every day, like a beacon. The light that makes the moles and vampires of political obscurantism tremble in their dark holes. Low bow and respect to his family.
